Job summary
Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford is seeking a Scientist (all levels) to join the Plant Biology Institute. You will design and execute experiments in advanced genome technologies and plant transformation, aiming to engineer plants with novel traits for real-world impact.
You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, contribute to publications and IP, and help translate research into commercial solutions within the EIT ecosystem.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. required in molecular biology or biochemistry with deep cellular/molecular biology expertise.
- Strong background in plant molecular biology and/or plant-microbe interactions is preferred.
- Ability to rapidly test diverse hypotheses and pivot when needed.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments aligned with stage-gated milestones in advanced genome technologies and plant transformation.
- Lead rigorous experimental design, execution and data interpretation for robust, reproducible results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply cutting-edge techniques in experiments.
- Present findings at seminars and external meetings; contribute to IP generation and publications.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to translation of results into commercial opportunities.
