Job summary

The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford seeks a highly motivated Scientist in Molecular Biology to drive plant biotechnology projects from design to translation. You will work on stage-gated milestones, publish findings, and contribute to IP and translational efforts across multidisciplinary teams.

Collaborate with AI, automation, and generative biology experts to accelerate lab-to-market impact and deliver commercially relevant plant science solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• PhD with more than 5 years postdoc experience in plant molecular biology labs, in industry or academia.
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying gene libraries for trait engineering and functional genomics.
• Experience with automated molecular workflows and high-throughput processes.

Responsibilities

• Drive rigorous experimental design, execution, and data interpretations to ensure robust outcomes.
• Deliver progress through stage-gated milestones.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research into practical experiments.
• Present work at seminars and external meetings; contribute to IP discussions.
• Mentor other group members where appropriate.
• Assist translation of results into commercial opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for IP creation and patent protection.
