Job summary

Holcim UK is seeking a Plant Fitter at the Caldon Low site to maintain and repair plant equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical skills and a proactive approach, with Monday to Friday 06:00–16:00 shifts.

You will perform planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns, inspect plant health, and support operatives with basic maintenance tasks while adhering to safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• Strong background in mechanical maintenance with NVQ Level 3 or time served.
• Proficiency in welding, cutting and fabricating, with experience reading engineering drawings.
• Understanding of safe working practices, environmental policies and risk assessments.
• Highly motivated, organised, and flexible with strong communication and teamwork.
• Comfortable using digital systems to document maintenance activities and track performance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs to ensure asset reliability and longevity.
• Respond to unplanned breakdowns, ensuring the plant is returned to production quickly and efficiently.
• Develop and implement safe working methods for maintenance and repair tasks.
• Conduct daily plant inspections, documenting findings and reporting any issues promptly.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, keeping work areas clean, tidy, and hazard-free.
• Train and support operatives in basic maintenance tasks to improve overall site efficiency.
• Ensure all safety documentation is completed for maintenance activities, following company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and document plant stoppages and breakdowns, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
