Job summary

Holcim is seeking a skilled Plant Fitter for our Caldon Low site to maintain and repair critical plant equipment. The role requires hands-on mechanical maintenance, problem solving, and a proactive approach to safety and efficiency.

Working Monday to Friday, 06:00–16:00, you will help keep operations running smoothly and safely. You will perform planned and unplanned maintenance, inspect equipment, and mentor operatives in basic tasks.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant technical field or time served experience.
• Proficiency in welding, cutting, and fabricating, with experience working from engineering drawings.
• Understanding of safe working practices, environmental policies, and risk assessments.
• Highly motivated, organised, and flexible, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable using digital systems to document maintenance activities and track performance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs to ensure asset reliability and longevity.
• Respond to unplanned breakdowns, ensuring the plant is returned to production quickly and efficiently.
• Develop and implement safe working methods for maintenance and repair tasks.
• Conduct daily plant inspections, documenting findings and reporting any issues promptly.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, keeping work areas clean, tidy, and hazard-free.
• Train and support operatives in basic maintenance tasks to improve overall site efficiency.
• Ensure all safety documentation is completed for maintenance activities, following company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and document plant stoppages and breakdowns, ensuring accurate record-keeping.

The Opportunity
