Job summary

GI Group is recruiting an experienced Plant Fitter to join a busy team. You will maintain a fleet of heavy plant and agricultural machinery, diagnose faults and carry out repairs to keep equipment in hire-ready condition.

The role covers service, pre-hire inspections, record keeping, and occasional overtime across a varied workshop environment. You should be confident working independently and prioritising safety at all times.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical experience in plant and machinery maintenance.
  • Confident diagnosing faults across a range of equipment.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle electrics/electronics and hydraulics.
  • Experience with screeners and crushers would be advantageous.
  • Agricultural machinery experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a fleet of screeners and crushers, including screen changes and pre-hire preparation.
  • Induct customers on machinery and ensure safe operation knowledge.
  • Service and maintain excavators (3-20 tonnes) and other agricultural machinery.
  • Attend machinery breakdowns and perform fault finding and repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and complete maintenance records.
  • Monitor parts stock and advise on replacements.
  • Keep the depot workshop compliant with health and safety rules.
  • Support the wider team with additional tasks as required.
