Job summary

Envar in Woodhurst, Cambridgeshire, is seeking a Plant Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance function across the site, ensuring all plant, machinery and fixed assets are maintained, safe to use and available when required.

The role combines office work with hands-on on-the-tools activity (35%/65% split) and requires a pragmatic, get-stuck-in attitude in a dirty, dusty environment. You will work with site managers to support production targets and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven engineering management experience in heavy industry or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Experience leading maintenance teams and overseeing contractors.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Plant/Engineering team across the facility.
• Establish clear engineering standards, procedures and performance expectations.
• Build a preventative maintenance culture focused on reliability and continuous improvement.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and technical support to engineering personnel.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability and productivity.
• Maintain an accurate asset register and lifecycle management programme.
• Manage all planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
• Monitor contractor performance against agreed standards.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
