Location: Reading

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Technician to join a growing Development Team working within a leading EV Charging Infrastructure company. This role is well-suited to a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a strong understanding of planning processes, seeking to contribute to a forward-thinking organisation supporting the transition to sustainable transport.

The role involves managing planning applications and related documentation, supporting feasibility assessments, and contributing to the delivery of innovative electric vehicle infrastructure projects across the UK.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing, submitting and managing planning applications in line with current legislation and guidance
• Handling the discharge, variation and/or removal of planning conditions
• Supporting the preparation of statements such as biodiversity net gain (BNG) exemption, design and access, and heritage statements
• Liaising with local planning authorities and consultants to respond to queries and assist with the planning process
• Monitoring application progress and proactively managing any delays or issues
• Conducting initial research and feasibility assessments, including reviewing local development plans and policies
• Providing planning input on project design to ensure compliance and best practice
• Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to help achieve project goals
• Staying up to date with national and local planning policy, particularly in areas related to EV charging, sustainable transport, climate change and air quality
• Previous work within a planning department or experience processing planning applications
• Solid knowledge of UK planning law and procedures
• Familiarity with the General Permitted Development Order 2015 and the Development Management Procedure Order 2015
• Comfortable working as part of a team and engaging with external stakeholders
• Right to work with no sponsorship
