Position: Planning Solicitor (Head of Department) - Birmingham

Overview

We are seeking a Planning Partner to join a leading national law firm in Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team of talented planning lawyers, provide expert legal guidance, and develop strategic growth plans. The position involves travel to other firm offices and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and oversee the planning team, ensuring their professional growth and development.
2. Provide expert advice on a wide range of planning matters, including residential and commercial developments in both private and public sectors.
3. Develop and implement strategic plans to deliver high-quality legal services to clients.
4. Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
5. Work closely with the real estate partnership and other departments as needed.
6. Prepare and execute a strategic business plan for the planning team.

Candidate Requirements

1. Qualified solicitor with at least 10 years PQE in planning law.
2. Strong background in planning law within both private and public sectors.
3. Experience as a partner or senior leader in a law firm, seeking new challenges.
4. Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage teams across multiple locations.
5. Exceptional problem-solving and negotiation skills.
6. Technical expertise in planning, highways, and environmental law.
7. Willingness to travel as required.
