While providing the energy security Britain relies on today, we're also helping transform the network for a clean energy future.

Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role

As a Planning & Scheduling Assistant, you'll help keep our gas transmission network running safely and efficiently by supporting the planning and scheduling of work across our operational assets. You'll work closely with delivery teams to make sure the right resources are in the right place at the right time.

Why this role matters

Every maintenance activity, improvement project, and operational task starts with effective planning. In this role, you'll play an important part in helping teams deliver both routine and non-routine work that keeps gas flowing to homes, businesses, and communities across the UK.

You'll be at the heart of coordinating work plans, resource allocation, and scheduling, helping teams make informed decisions and deliver work safely, efficiently, and on time. Your contribution will directly support the reliability of critical national infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing
  • Coordinate planning activities that support the safe and effective delivery of area work programmes
  • Help optimise resource allocation to ensure work can be delivered efficiently across operational teams
  • Support and contribute to planning meetings, providing accurate information and updates
  • Use scheduling tools to balance workload against available resources and priorities
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, and planning information to support decision making
  • Assist with performance reporting, helping teams review KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Research information, systems, and solutions that support operational and continuous improvement initiatives
What you’ll bring

This role would suit someone who enjoys organising information, coordinating multiple priorities, and working closely with others to achieve shared goals. You'll be proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated by helping teams succeed.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Good communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Experience coordinating activities, schedules, or workload plans
  • Ability to manage and maintain accurate records and data
  • A collaborative approach with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to team planning
  • Ability to interpret and follow relevant processes, procedures, and ways of working
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on finding better ways of working
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience working in a planning, scheduling, or coordination role
  • Knowledge of operational, engineering, utilities, or infrastructure environments
  • Experience using planning, scheduling, or resource management systems
  • Understanding of performance reporting and KPI monitoring
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, or industry procedures
Security clearance

This role is subject to National Security Vetting (NSV). Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC) throughout their employment. For further information, visit GOV.UK (UK Security Vetting: Clearance Levels).

What we offer
  • Market-leading double-match pension (up to 12% company contribution)
  • Annual performance bonus up to 6%
  • Access to the Tusker salary sacrifice car scheme
  • 10x salary life assurance and income protection
  • Flexible benefits including healthcare, dental, and technology options
  • Family-friendly policies, wellbeing support, and professional development opportunities
