Job Opportunity: Planning Policy Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Planning Policy team for the appointment of a Planning Policy Technician to join our friendly and busy section. You will be joining the Planning Policy team at an exciting time as we prepare a new Local Plan. Having adopted two Local Plans in the last seven years, you will benefit from working with and learning from an experienced, high-performing team.

The successful applicant will gain excellent experience in the plan-making process and have the opportunity to work within an organization committed to delivering a plan that meets housing and employment needs while preserving the character and beauty of Guildford borough. The post holder will provide technical and administrative support to the Planning Policy team and lead in monitoring the effectiveness of Local Plan policies.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• GCSE qualifications in English and Maths are essential.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to customer care.
• Computer literacy and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• An interest in planning and experience using GIS would be advantageous.
