Are you ready for a challenge? There are some big issues facing Rushcliffe over the next few years, notably completing the review of the Borough’s Local Plan. We are looking for a Planning Policy Officer to join us.

Salary:

£26,745 - £41,661 per annum (Career Grade Post)

Job Type:

Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week

Planning Policy Officer – The Role:

We’re seeking an organized and self-motivated individual with a Town Planning or related degree to join our Planning Policy team to help advance work on our Local Plan. Recent graduates or those with limited experience are encouraged to apply, as this role offers opportunities for career development, skill enhancement, and support through the APC route towards RTPI membership.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and presentation of evidence for the Local Plan and other planning policy functions.
  2. Ensure the integration of planning policy work with other relevant Council functions.
  3. Prepare and, where necessary, present reports to Council committees on planning policy and related matters.
  4. Represent the Council at meetings and exhibitions as required.
  5. Liaise with other bodies to ensure the Council’s interests are properly represented.
  6. Provide assistance and advice on planning policy matters to other Council departments.
  7. Handle correspondence and enquiries from the public and prepare planning policy reports and studies.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Degree or equivalent in Town Planning or a related subject, or previous Town Planning experience.
  • Understanding of planning policy issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driving license or ability to travel independently to sites.
