Leading on the County Council’s response to national and regional publications in relation to all infrastructure issues, Statutory Undertakers and national policy documents, this role offers huge variety, challenge and opportunity. You will be expected to work closely with District Council colleagues, Local Members, Senior members of staff and central government. Your excellent communication skills will ensure you are capable of taking complex planning policies and realising the impacts on the County Council. You will be an expert in your field championing the role that planning plays in shaping the delivery of council services in the future.
The I nfrastructure Investment Team make sure the county’s transport, housing and employment sectors are fit for the future. From strategic planning policy, from shaping housing and business growth to addressing infrastructure needs – the team collaborate with others nationally and locally to make great ideas a reality.
We are looking for an individual with a degree or higher qualification in town and country planning, surveying, or a related subject , who also possesses experience working at a senior level of responsibility within a complex political environment.
You'll have a solid understanding of the development process, enabling them to effectively oversee and discharge the overall planning policy function. You should be able to demonstrate experience of providing evidence and acting as an expert witness in public inquiries, highlighting your ability to navigate and influence complex situations.
Additionally, you should have a proven track record of promoting consensual partnership working between diverse organisations, championing collaboration and shared goals. Extensive project management experience, along with the ability to apply various project management techniques, is essential to succeed in this role.
