Job Opportunity: Planning Engineer at BAM Nuttall

BAM Nuttall is seeking an experienced and motivated Planning Engineer to join our team. You will play a key role in delivering large civil engineering projects that provide critical infrastructure for Scotland's renewable energy developments. The role requires working from our regional offices in Inverness and Kilsyth, with site visits during project execution.

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed programmes in P6, including resource loading.
  • Integrate and manage subcontractor and supplier programmes.
  • Interpret tender and project documentation.
  • Understand and develop civil construction techniques into workable programmes.
  • Coordinate with estimators and commercial teams.
  • Prepare narratives, reports, and documents for tenders and projects.
  • Own the programme to ensure project delivery.
  • Use various planning tools to communicate effectively.
  • Support operational teams with programme, risk, and commercial issues.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning workshops.
  • Monitor project progress and compile reports.
  • Manage programme changes and support commercial teams.
  • Assess supply chain and subcontractor programmes.
  • Adhere to business processes and systems.
  • Stay updated on construction techniques.
Candidate Profile
  • Preferably experienced with NEC contracts.
  • Minimum 5 years in Civil Engineering contracting, capable of managing own workload and supporting senior staff.
  • Possibly an experienced Sub-Agent seeking a new challenge.
  • HND in Civil Engineering/Construction or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficient in planning software.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive programmes.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable in client-facing roles.
  • Experience working with site teams and understanding programme requirements.
  • Logical thinker, able to work under challenging deadlines.
  • Experience with Excel and Power BI beneficial; tender experience advantageous.
  • Strong commercial and contractual understanding, especially with NEC contracts.
