Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Planning Enforcement Officer to investigate breaches of planning control, prepare reports and draft enforcement notices.

You will manage your own enforcement caseload, work in a hybrid model with bases in Craven or Harrogate, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure timely, compliant outcomes.

The role requires solid knowledge of planning policy, strong communication, and the ability to work under pressure in the Skipton area.

Qualifications

• An awareness, understanding and interpretation of national and local planning legislation, policy, and procedures.
• Ability to work in a customer environment or with members of the public or organisations.

Responsibilities

• Investigate breaches of planning control and pursue appropriate action.
• Manage a caseload of planning enforcement investigations.
• Prepare expediency reports and draft enforcement notices where appropriate.
• Undertake systematic and periodic reviews of approvals to monitor compliance.
• Communicate findings and work effectively under deadlines.
