Job summary

Bassetlaw District Council in Worksop is seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to manage enforcement investigations across the district. You will investigate complaints, undertake site visits, gather evidence, take measurements and prepare recommendations in line with planning policy and legislation.

You will also support compliance monitoring, serve statutory notices, assist with prosecutions and planning appeals, and represent the Council at hearings where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of planning law and enforcement practice.
• Experience handling complex enforcement matters.
• Able to manage confidential information and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage and investigate a caseload of planning enforcement complaints and breaches.
• Undertake site visits, gather evidence and assess matters against policy and law.
• Prepare and serve statutory notices and monitor compliance with enforcement action.
• Collate evidence for prosecutions and planning appeals.
• Negotiate with applicants, agents and residents to secure outcomes; mentor junior officers.
