Job description

Ready to influence decisions that shape the future of the North East?

We're looking for an ambitious and experienced Planning & Performance Manager to join the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority at a pivotal time for the region. This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of the organisation, helping to drive the delivery of the Mayor's priorities, strategic missions and long-term ambitions for communities, businesses and residents across the North East.

As a key member of the growing Policy, Planning & Performance Team, you'll help lead the development and delivery of our corporate planning and performance frameworks, ensuring there is a clear line of sight from strategic priorities through to measurable outcomes and real-world impact. You'll work directly with senior leaders, influencing decision-making, challenging thinking and helping to ensure that the Authority remains focused on what matters most.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Shape how the Authority plans, measures and delivers success.
  • Influence strategic decisions by providing high-quality insight, analysis and performance reporting.
  • Work closely with senior leaders and partners across the region.
  • Lead the continued development of our corporate planning and performance arrangements.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and outcomes-focused delivery.

We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with practical delivery. You'll be confident working with complex information, building strong relationships across the organisation and providing professional challenge to help improve performance and outcomes. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving problems and be motivated by making a tangible difference to the region.

Whether you're currently working in planning, performance, organisational improvement, strategy or a related field, this role offers the opportunity to take on a highly visible and influential position within a dynamic organisation that is helping to shape the North East's future.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

If you want to be at the heart of regional change, turning ambition into action and strategy into impact, we'd love to hear from you.
