Job description

Overview

Are you ready to take up a vital role in shaping some of our exciting projects? How about joining our talented team, where everyone has a voice, and together we face our clients' problems head‑on. It's a diverse and inclusive work environment where world‑class talent knows no distinctions.

We know that different people have different priorities, which is why we're here to support you. Flexible and remote working is a central part of our culture. So, talk to us about what's ideal for you – from reduced weeks to buying more leave over school holidays. If you're returning from a career break, ask us how we can help you transition back into work with us.

We are recruiting an individual for our Movement & Place (Transport Planning) discipline to support the delivery of a broad range of transport planning projects across the North East of England. We are currently delivering several exciting schemes, using the latest modelling tools and appraisal techniques to assess bus, rail, and road interventions alongside active travel and public realm initiatives. Our regional team also supports national projects, working with local and national government bodies as well as private sector clients. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team, contributing to project delivery, business development, and activities including scheme appraisal, business case development, stakeholder engagement, and strategy development.

Your role

We are looking for an individual who wishes to contribute to a high performing, dynamic team that works seamlessly with our wider national Movement & Place business. Collaborating with specialists from across our business as part of multi‑disciplinary teams, you'll work on projects which inform transport policy, monitor and review the performance of transport schemes as well as flagship regeneration, development and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will join a team with a well‑balanced blend of skills focused on meeting our client needs. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to add further value and support our ambitious growth agenda.

About You

We are keen to speak to individuals with a background in transport planning to join our Newcastle team. Applicants will be flexible, self‑motivated, and able to demonstrate capability in the following areas:

  • Strong analytical, numeracy, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and support evidence‑based decision making.
  • Excellent communication and report‑writing skills, with experience engaging internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Sound technical understanding of transport planning principles and appraisal techniques.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality outputs to tight deadlines.
  • Confident team player, capable of working collaboratively and independently.

Candidates should demonstrate relevant technical experience commensurate with their level of experience in areas such as:

  • Transport strategies and policy development.
  • Scheme appraisal and business case preparation.
  • Feasibility studies and accessibility analysis.
  • Multi‑modal transport planning and scheme development.
  • Stakeholder engagement and strategy development.
Rewards & Benefits

Enjoy competitive salaries, employee rewards and a brilliant range of benefits you can tailor to suit your own health, wellbeing, financial and lifestyle choices. Make the most of a myriad of opportunities for training and professional development to grow your skills and expertise. And combine our hybrid working culture and flexible holiday allowances to balance a great job and fulfilling personal life.
