Job description

Planned Maintenance Engineer

Type: Permanent, Full-time

Shifts: Sun-Wed 06:00-16:00

Location: Cotes Park Industrial Estate, Alfreton, Derbyshire, DE55 4PA

Position Summary

As a Planned Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the site maintenance strategy, developing and maintaining production processors, and participating in improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drive operational performance of Safety, Quality, Speed, Cost, and People KPIs.
2. Partner with the Production Shift Lead to coordinate reactive and planned maintenance activities.
3. Play an active role in delivering departmental performance targets such as OEE, RFT, waste, and yield.
4. Complete basic equipment condition monitoring, preventative maintenance duties, and engineering repairs.
5. Conduct Function Tests on site safety equipment (Fire Alarm, Emergency Lighting, High Level Alarm, etc.).
6. Perform daily checks on site utilities and plant equipment, supporting site compliance inspections.
7. Make effective repairs to machinery using established methodologies.
8. Utilize, develop, and improve the AM and PM systems.
9. Ensure machinery runs effectively and efficiently.
10. Comply with site safety systems.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

1. Mechanical Engineering qualification or experience, with an understanding of Electrical Engineering (Essential).
2. Knowledge of Production Machinery (Essential), ideally within Packaging, Food, FMCG, etc.
3. Creative problem-solving skills and commitment to following through on solutions with relevant stakeholders.
4. Working knowledge of autonomous, preventative, and predictive maintenance techniques, and understanding of working within a lower-tier COMAH site.
5. Good understanding of general manufacturing Utilities Plant Equipment (Steam Boilers, Compressed Air Plant, Water Treatment Plant, etc.) (Desirable).
