Job description

Job Description: B6 Plain Film Radiographer

Our B6 Plain Film Radiographer will be in a supervisory role, coordinating X-ray workload and team members. They will support the X-Ray Lead Radiographer through delegated roles and tasks. The role involves carrying out X-Ray examinations within the agreed scope of practice, aiming to produce high-quality diagnostic images and supporting team members to achieve the same.

They will work as part of the X-Ray and wider Radiology team, supporting Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT) in delivering a high-quality, safe, and patient-focused service.

The Radiographer will represent the Plain Film and wider Radiology team and TSDFT professionally, contributing to safe working practices and ensuring compliance with all local and national guidance and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing supervisory support to the X-Ray team and coordinating daily workload in the main X-ray department.
  2. Supporting the XR Superintendent Radiographer.
  3. Providing high-quality diagnostic X-Ray imaging within the scope of practice, which may extend to supporting more complex procedures after appropriate training.
  4. Working within all mandated regulatory guidelines and complying with Trust and departmental policies, protocols, and guidelines to ensure safe working practices.
  5. Providing the highest quality of patient care, treating all patients equally.
  6. Managing the safe and efficient use of complex technical equipment.
  7. Managing workload in their designated scan area.
  8. Supporting patient pathways to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  9. Supervising and advising trainees and students.
  10. Participating in the 24/7 service provision, which may involve working without on-site supervision.
  11. Maintaining professional registration.

The X-Ray team is led by a Superintendent Radiographer, supported by two Band 6 Radiographers (including this role), and a team of 26 X-Ray Radiographers.
