Job summary

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in Newport is seeking a full-time Band 3 Physiotherapy Support Worker to join the team. The post splits between acute medical inpatients at Royal Gwent Hospital (3 days) and Neurophysiotherapy Outpatients at St Woolos Hospital (2 days).

You will work with registered physiotherapists and provide clinical support to patients during their stay, while also assisting with non-clinical duties and administration to aid smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in health and/or social care environment or holds an appropriate qualification.
• Sufficient specific experience as a physiotherapy assistant or other relevant support worker role.
• Experience of working with groups of patients.
• Experience of audit.
• Experience of reflective practice in patient care.

Responsibilities

• The post is predominantly clinical. Under the delegation of Physiotherapists you will support patients rehabilitation journey and hold a delegated caseload of exercises.
• There will be non-clinical duties including audits, basic administration and housekeeping.
• Support with administration and community discharge planning under supervision of a Physiotherapist.

Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 3 Physiotherapy Support Worker to join the Newport Physiotherapy Team. The post will be split between acute medical inpatients (3 days) in Royal Gwent Hospital and Neurophysiotherapy Outpatients (2 days) St Woolos Hospital.

We are seeking a strong team player with excellent communication skills, displaying the ability to effectively manage time and priorities.

You will work closely with a team of registered physiotherapists and HCSW providing clinical support to patients during their acute inpatient stay, optimising functional recovery and facilitating safe discharges into the community. In Neuro Physiotherapy Outpatients you will support the registered physiotherapists delivering different exercise groups and individual patient appointments. You will also support with non clinical aspects including administration and housekeeping.

Main duties of the job

The post is predominantly clinical. Under the delegation of Physiotherapists you will support patients rehabilitation journey. There is opportunity to hold your own delegated case load of patients exercise plans.

There will be an element of non-clinical duties attached to your role. This will include supporting with audits, basic administration and housekeeping duties, stock taking, and using computer based systems i.e. ordering of walking aids.

The Physiotherapy Service encourages staff development; you will be supported to complete the Agored Level 3 Diploma In Physiotherapy Support, which will enable you to manage your own designated caseload, delivering interventions under the supervision of a Physiotherapist. We have a structured personal appraisal system in place with annual reviews underpinned by the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
