Job summary

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant to support Physiotherapists in patient treatment at Reading's RBH. The role involves assisting with therapy plans, guiding patients, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will rotate across Medicine, Elderly Care, ICU & Surgery, Respiratory and Acute Stroke units, contributing to quality patient care and efficient service delivery within the Therapies department.

Qualifications

• Assist in therapeutic management of patients.

• Participate in high quality, efficient physiotherapy.
• Instruct and guide patients individually or in groups.
• Undertake delegated clerical and housekeeping tasks.
• Rotational duties across Medicine and Elderly Care units.
• Rotational duties in ICU, Surgery, Respiratory and Stroke.

Responsibilities

• Support daily physiotherapy sessions.
• Assist in patient mobility and exercise programmes.
• Document patient progress as directed.
• Maintain equipment and cleanliness of therapy areas.

Job description

To be a Physiotherapy assistant working to assist the Physiotherapist in the therapeutic management of patients for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (RBFT).

Under supervision to facilitate and participate in ongoing patient treatment.

To work effectively as a team member in carrying out, under direction, exercise and mobility programmes.

To participate in providing a high quality, effective and efficient physiotherapy service.

Under supervision of a Physiotherapist, provide a range of activities, instructing and guiding patients, individually or in groups, to support them in achieving identified goals and promoting independence.

To undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service, including clerical and housekeeping tasks.

In this role you work closely with patients, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team, undertaking an array of responsibilities and tasks to support the smooth running of the Therapies service.

This post is rotational, covering areas such as Medicine, Elderly Care, ICU & Surgery, Respiratory & the Acute Stroke Unit., The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest District General Hospitals in the country.
