The Physical Therapist Resident participates in a twelve-month Acute Care Physical Therapy Residency Program. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, clinical and non-clinical tasks such as one-on-one clinical mentorship, didactic coursework, clinical research, and teaching in a clinical sub-specialty. The role involves performing physical therapy evaluations, developing treatment plans, and executing treatments to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part. The Resident helps patients reach their maximum performance according to the prescribed plan of care and provides care based on standards established by the American Physical Therapy Association.
