Robert Walters is recruiting for a Senior Analyst in Physical Precious Operations. The role covers settlement of metal trades, global shipping, and margin activities within a regulated financial services environment.

You will support structured financing, perform reconciliations, monitor risk exposures, and ensure strict control of depository records while driving continuous improvements and maintaining compliance with FCA regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in physical commodity operations within a regulated financial services environment.
• Understanding of London Precious Metals Clearing Limited (LPMCL) clearing processes and physical precious metals operations.
• Strong knowledge of LBMA standards and precious metals markets.
• Knowledge of FCA regulations and risk management principles.
• Vaulting experience is advantageous.

• Manage the settlement of physical precious metals, cash and metal transactions, including global shipping and margined client activities.
• Support and administer structured financing transactions, including allocated and pledged financing.
• Perform daily back-office reconciliations and resolve discrepancies, maintaining depository records.
• Monitor depository limits, margin availability and risk exposures; escalate as needed.
• Deliver high standard client service by interpreting requests, resolving trade and client queries.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, controls and risk management frameworks; maintain documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements and testing to boost operational efficiency.

What You’ll Do

• Manage the settlement of physical precious metals, cash and metal transactions, including global shipping, delivery and margined client activities.
• Support and administer structured financing transactions, including allocated financing, earmarked financing and pledge business, ensuring accurate execution and control.
• Perform daily back-office reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and maintain the integrity of depository and intra-system records.
• Monitor depository limits, margin availability and risk exposures, escalating issues appropriately to ensure a robust control environment.
• Deliver a high standard of client service by accurately interpreting requests, resolving trade and client queries, and proactively addressing operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures, payment controls and risk management frameworks, while maintaining up-to-date documentation and completing control checklists.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting system testing, process enhancements, problem-solving and personal development to improve operational efficiency.

What You Bring

• Proven experience in physical commodity operations within a regulated financial services, banking or commodities environment.
• An understanding of London Precious Metals Clearing Limited (LPMCL) clearing processes and physical precious metals operations.
• Strong understanding of precious metals markets, including LBMA standards, international markets and emerging market dynamics.
• Sound knowledge of banking operations, financial products and the wider precious metals trading lifecycle.
• Good understanding of FCA regulations (or equivalent regulatory frameworks), alongside risk management and control principles.
• Experience of working within physical precious metals operations, with vaulting experience considered advantageous.
• Proficient IT skills, with the ability to utilise operational systems, analyse data and support process improvements effectively.
