Job summary

West Herts College is seeking a practical, organised Photography Technician to support its growing Photography provision within the School of Art & Design at the Watford Campus.

You will prepare and maintain cameras, lenses, lighting and studio equipment, assist in practical sessions, manage loans and stock, and help keep a safe, professional environment while guiding students in using equipment confidently.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DSLR/mirrorless cameras, studio flash and continuous lighting.
• Experience with darkroom processes and photographic printing is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom or other specialist photographic workflows is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain cameras, lenses, lighting, and studio equipment.
• Support practical studio sessions and learning activities.
• Manage equipment loans and returns and monitor stock levels.
• Maintain a safe, organised and professional working environment.
• Provide practical technical guidance to students and help them use equipment safely.
