Job summary

The Herts Resourcing Group is seeking a part-time Art & Design Photography Technician to support ware campus education and the delivery of creative arts. The post reports to the Technical Resources Manager and coordinates with Photography Programme Managers.

You will maintain safe studios, manage equipment, deliver inductions and workshops, and assist with exhibitions and events. Term-time hours are 21 per week with salary shown; DBS required.

Qualifications

• L3 qualification in Photography or a related specialism.
• L2 qualification in English & Maths.
• Experience of working with the 16-24 age group.
• Experience of working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage studio health and safety, COSHH and risk assessments.
• Order, maintain, and issue equipment and materials for teaching.
• Housekeeping in studios and prep materials for lecturers and students.
• Deliver technical workshops and inductions per H&S, including working at height.
• Support department events and offsite exhibitions and Open evenings.

Job – Art & Design Photography Technician

Salary- Part-time term time only ( 21 hours per week ) £12,807.60 - £13,534.19 p.a. (based on FTE £26,000 - £27,475 per annum)

Holiday- included in pay

Location – Ware Campus – Hours across Monday to Friday.

Closing Date – 2nd October 2026 @ Midday

We are recruiting for a Photography Technician; the post holder will be required to provide support to the delivery and growth of outstanding education in the Department for Creative Arts & Industries within the area of Art and Design. You will report to the Technical Resources Manager and take instruction from the Program Managers for Photography.

About The Role

Within the photography specialist area ,you will maintain a professional and safe industry standard creative learning environment and manage and maintain technical resources. You will be responsible for the delivery and support of students’ workshop inductions and skills workshops. You will curate and risk-assess exhibitions both physically (onsite and externally) and online. You will liaise with businesses and employers to support the students’ work experience activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the Health and Safety of an allocated set of studios, including COSHH, PPE, and risk assessments. This includes working offsite in public spaces.
• Ordering, maintaining, managing, and issuing specialist equipment and materials to facilitate teaching and learning in art and design, with regard to sustainable practice, the growth of the department and budget constraints. Collecting payment from students and visitors.
• Undertaking housekeeping duties in specialist studios and workshops, including preparing materials for use by lecturers and students
• Deliver subject-specialist technical workshops and inductions, in line with H&S requirements, (including working at height) to cohorts of students
• Contributing as part of a team of technicians to department arts and marketing events, including offsite exhibitions, the Fashion Show and Pop-Up Shop with responsibility for documenting events as required. This may include weekend activities such as markets and exhibitions, and Open evenings/events.
