Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.
The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
The individual will be responsible for ensuring that the blood specimens are taken in a manner that does not cause undue anxiety to the patient and that laboratories are provided with timely, high quality blood specimens taken in tubes that are appropriate for the tests requested.
Job overview
Your main role will be to cover the Phlebotomy service at the John Radcliffe with occasional shifts throughout the trust providing a patient-friendly service as required.
Phlebotomists will be expected to provide a helpful and professional service to patients and healthcare staff within the Trust.
We are looking for individuals with the skill and flexibility to support our services on the Outpatients and Trust wards and on occasions the Mobile service.
To take venous bloods safely from patients on the wards, outpatient and the Phlebotomy Bus.
To work within a team and also lone working.
To work with a computer on wheels using the EPR system.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a band 3.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our phlebotomy team.
Two years phlebotomy experience is essential.
This will be mainly based at the JR but on occasions may be asked to work at other sites.
The applicant must have a full driving license and access to a suitable vehicle.
