Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Excellent communication skills along with a pleasant , friendly and understanding disposition are essential for this role and previous experience of working with the general public would be an advantage.

This role will require the post holder to wear personal, protective, equipment (PPE) including masks, aprons and gloves as per trust guidance.

You must be able to work in a fast paced, high demand environment which sees a high turn over of patients daily.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GCSE grades A-C or equivalent in English and Maths.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous Phlebotomy /Venepuncture Experience within an acute trust.
Experience

Essential criteria

  • You will have a genuine interest in a career working in frontline services for people
  • Knowledge of the Phlebotomy role.
  • Able to follow a full venepuncture- training programme
  • Good communication and telephone skills
  • Understanding and respect of confidentiality in the workplace.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in an acute hospital environment

  • Able to minimise interpersonal conflict
  • Computer literate (able to use MS Outlook, MS word, enter data onto excel spread sheets).

  • Must be active and mobile
  • Ability to work for long periods whilst standing.
  • Must be able to deliver the full phlebotomy service within NUH.
Other requirements specific to the role (eg be able to drive or work shifts)

  • Flexibility and adaptability to ensure workloads are achieved and service requirements are met at all times.
  • Flexible approach to working hours to help cover leave and sickness
  • Ability to work at both Trust campuses
