Stapenhill Medical Centre in the United Kingdom seeks a phlebotomist to join the clinical team. The role involves venepuncture, obtaining consent, labeling and storing samples, and keeping records up to date on SystmOne.

Clinics run solo in a treatment room with pre-booked 5-minute slots on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, 8am to 1pm. A recognised phlebotomy qualification and prior healthcare experience are required.

Responsabilidades

• Perform venepuncture safely and in line with practice protocols.
• Obtain patient consent for blood sample collection.
• Carry out strict identification checks and label blood tubes accurately.
• Process and manage laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses.
• Package, store and send samples to the laboratory in a timely way.
• Request pathology tests.
• Record accurate clinical notes on SystmOne after each sample.
• Manage own clinic of pre-booked appointments and some urgent on-the-day slots.
• Use the specimen log and resolve any discrepancies.
• Know when to refer to nurses or the GP, working within own scope of practice.
• Work with GPs, nurses and clinical pharmacists to support service delivery.
• Contribute to audit and local improvement initiatives.

This phlebotomy post sits in the clinical team at Stapenhill Medical Centre, a GP practice with more than 9,500 patients. The work centres on obtaining consent, carrying out venepuncture, labelling and storing samples, and keeping records up to date on SystmOne. It is a solo treatment-room role running fast 5-minute pre-booked clinics on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, 8am to 1pm. A recognised phlebotomy qualification and prior healthcare experience are needed.
