Job summary

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a motivated individual to join the hospital pharmacy team. The role offers ward-based pharmacy exposure and dispensing duties within the pharmacy dispensary, with training provided to successful candidates.

Applicants should have GCSEs in Maths and English and a Level 2 pharmacy qualification; prior pharmacy experience is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

Must have GCSEs in Maths & English at grade C or above or an equivalent qualification.
Applications are welcome from those who have completed a level 2 pharmacy qualification.
If you already have the required qualifications and skills then you will start the role as a band 3.
Previous pharmacy experience would be an advantage, however full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, adapt to changing demands, and be proactive.

Responsibilities

Work closely with ward-based Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists.
Support the safe and secure storage of medicines on wards.
Assess patients’ own medication to check suitability for use.
Maintain medication supplies for inpatients on allocated wards.
Ensure efficient use of medicines by facilitating safe transfer of medication around the hospital.
Prioritise and facilitate discharges.
Dispense inpatient and discharge prescriptions.
