Job summary

NHS Fife seeks a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join the Primary Care Team. You will work across GP practices and pharmacy bases handling medicines reconciliation, discharge and outpatient letter reviews, and prescription requests, with opportunities for home visits and medication reviews.

You will collaborate with Pharmacists and other Pharmacy staff, with training provided, and travel between practices and NHS Fife sites as required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC.
• Excellent interpersonal and IT skills.
• Experience as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out medicines reconciliation.
• Review discharge and outpatient letters.
• Handle acute, repeat and serial prescriptions and answer medication queries.

We have exciting opportunities for Pharmacy Technicians to work within our Primary Care Team. You would work in both GP Practices and pharmacy bases to undertake a range of tasks including medicines reconciliation, review of discharge and outpatient letters, acute, repeat and serial prescription requests, and answering medication related queries. There will also be opportunities to carry out medication reviews in a range of settings including telephone, GP practices or patients own homes. You will also undertake prescribing audits and medication cost efficiency projects within this role.

Within this role you will be supported by the already well-established primary care team delivering the Pharmacotherapy services to our GP practices across Fife. You will work closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers and GP Practice clinicians. Training and support will be provided.

NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate aims to provide the highest quality pharmaceutical care to the people of Fife. We serve a population of approximately 380,000 people and the service we provide is delivered by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff.

This post will involve travel between practices and other NHS Fife sites. The ability to travel is therefore essential as you will be expected to move efficiently and safely across the areas to meet the operational requirements of the service.
