Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd in Barnsley are recruiting a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to join a busy pharmacy team. The role supports safe, effective and lawful medicines supply, under the guidance of pharmacists and the healthcare team.

You'll develop skills toward becoming a registered Pharmacy Technician, with blended learning alongside your job and potential for full-time employment after completion.

Qualifications

• GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 in Maths and English; these may be provided as part of the course.
• Willingness to commit to the full length of the apprenticeship and working hours.
• Interest in pharmacy and healthcare with team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage, order, receive and supply medicines safely and accurately.
• Provide patient advice on prescriptions and OTC medicines.
• Support day-to-day running of the pharmacy and stock control.
• Supervise and support staff as you progress in the role.
• Assist with training and mentoring new staff members.
• Maintain high standards via audits and feedback responses.
• Complete Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship training.
• Upon completion, eligible to register with the GPhC.

Job description

About the role:

As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will support the safe, effective and lawful supply of medicines while working closely with pharmacists and the wider healthcare team. We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to join a busy pharmacy team. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress within pharmacy and develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.

Key responsibilities include

• Managing, ordering, receiving and supplying medicines and pharmaceutical products safely and accurately
• Providing person‑centred advice to patients on prescription and over‑the‑counter medicines, referring to healthcare professionals where appropriate
• Supporting the day‑to‑day running of the pharmacy, including business processes, stock control and clinical governance
• Supervising and supporting pharmacy support staff as you progress in the role
• Assisting with training and mentoring new members of staff
• Maintaining high standards through auditing, evaluating services and responding to feedback
• Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship (equivalent to A‑level)
• On successful completion, you will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Training delivered through a blended learning approach alongside your job

Working Week

• Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm on a rota basis 4 or 5 days per week

Qualifications Required

• GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 or equivalent, in Maths and English desired but not essential as can be provided as part of the course.
• For applicants without Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, employment will be offered on condition of completing initial Maths and English tests to determine suitability for the course.

Personal Qualities

• A keen interest in pharmacy and healthcare.
• Previous experience in the pharmacy industry or similar.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• The willingness to learn and develop your skills and knowledge.
