Job description

What is the job?

Ready to take the next step in your leadership career and make a real impact within a rapidly growing, patient-focused organisation?

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Team Leader or Manager to join us as a Pharmacy Team Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your leadership experience into a fast-paced healthcare environment, supporting, motivating and developing a high-performing team across both weekday and weekend shifts.

You do not need previous pharmacy experience or a pharmacy qualification for this role. What we are looking for is someone with strong people leadership experience who knows how to run a successful shift, manage competing priorities, support their team and maintain high standards in a busy operational environment.

As Pharmacy Team Lead, you will be right at the heart of our day-to-day pharmacy operations. This is a hands-on role where no two days will be the same. You will help coordinate shifts, manage changing priorities, resolve operational challenges and provide clear, confident guidance to colleagues.

You will act as a visible and approachable point of leadership on shift, ensuring workloads are managed effectively, standards are consistently maintained and any issues are identified and addressed quickly. You will also support the development of your colleagues through regular feedback, coaching and encouragement, helping them build their confidence, strengthen their skills and take pride in the service they provide.

Working closely with the Pharmacy Manager and wider Pharmacy Operations team, you will help drive continuous improvement across the pharmacy. Whether it’s finding better ways of working, improving efficiency, strengthening communication or supporting the implementation of new processes, you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and make a genuine difference to how we operate.

This role would be perfect for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys bringing people together and is ready to take greater ownership and responsibility. You will need to be organised, proactive and calm under pressure, with the confidence to make decisions, support colleagues and maintain excellent standards.

You don’t need to be a pharmacy expert — you need to be a great leader. We will support you in developing your understanding of our pharmacy environment, processes and requirements.

If you are an experienced Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager who is passionate about people, enjoys a fast-paced environment and is excited by the opportunity to build your knowledge within healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?
  • Providing visible, hands-on leadership to the team during your shifts, helping to create a positive, supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Coordinating daily priorities, allocating tasks and managing workloads to ensure operations run safely, efficiently and smoothly
  • Acting as an approachable first point of contact for colleagues, providing guidance, support and encouragement throughout the working day
  • Monitoring progress against daily priorities and responding quickly to changing demands, operational challenges or staffing requirements
  • Supporting the team to maintain safe, accurate and compliant working practices in line with standard operating procedures, internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Helping to maintain consistently high standards across day-to-day operational processes
  • Identifying and escalating quality, safety or operational concerns appropriately, ensuring issues are followed through to resolution
  • Working closely with the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Operations and wider teams to resolve queries, improve communication and strengthen ways of working
  • Coaching and developing colleagues through regular feedback, practical support and on-the-job guidance to build their confidence, skills and capability
  • Supporting the onboarding and training of new team members, helping them settle into the team and understand our expected standards
  • Managing performance and addressing day-to-day people challenges in a fair, supportive and constructive way
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen safety and enhance the overall patient experience
  • Supporting the introduction of new processes, systems and operational improvements across the pharmacy
  • Leading by example and creating a culture where people feel supported, accountable and motivated to perform at their best
  • Helping the team deliver a safe, accurate, efficient and exceptional service to every patient
What do you need?
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or managing a team in a busy environment
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations, workloads, priorities and staffing requirements
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop colleagues
  • The confidence to make decisions, resolve challenges and take ownership of issues through to completion
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep operations running smoothly during busy periods
  • Excellent attention to detail and a consistent commitment to high standards
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across different teams
  • A supportive and approachable leadership style, with a genuine interest in helping others succeed
  • Experience giving feedback and managing performance where required
  • A calm, proactive and solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Confidence using computer-based systems, with the ability to learn new tools and processes quickly
  • Flexibility to work across weekday and weekend shifts as part of the pharmacy rota
  • A willingness to learn and develop your understanding of pharmacy operations, healthcare processes and regulatory requirements
  • A patient-first mindset and a genuine passion for delivering an exceptional standard of service

We are particularly interested in people who have worked as a Team Leader, Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Operations Manager, Store Manager, Contact Centre Team Leader, Warehouse Team Leader or in another people-management position where they have been responsible for leading a team and keeping day-to-day operations running effectively.
