Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our developing pharmacy team within Prison Healthcare and the GP Out of Hours Service. Based mainly at HMP Castle Huntly, with duties across HMP Perth, HMP Bella CCU, and the GP Out of Hours Service in Perth and Dundee as service needs require.

The successful candidate will contribute to processing and supply of medicines, stock control and ensuring safe, efficient pharmacy services across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent meeting GPhC requirements.
• A patient-centred approach and commitment to delivering high-quality care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing service demands and work across multiple sites.
• The ability to work as part of a weekend rota where required.
• You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the accurate and timely processing and supply of medicines.
• Supporting the ordering, receipt, storage and distribution of medicines and pharmaceutical stock.
• Participating in medicines stock control, including stock rotation and monitoring.
• Ordering and invoicing medicines and sundry items.
• Maintaining accurate records and complying with all relevant legislation, policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Contributing to the safe, efficient and effective delivery of pharmacy services to patients.
