Job summary

NHS Scotland is recruiting a Pharmacy Support Worker to join the Prison Healthcare and GP Out of Hours team. Based primarily at HMP Castle Huntly, the post may require duties across HMP Perth, Bella CCU, and GP Out of Hours in Perth and Dundee as needed.

The role supports safe, effective pharmaceutical services with a focus on medicines processing, stock control, and records compliance. Weekend rota may be required.

• SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent meets regulatory requirements of GPhC.

Responsibilities

• Assist with accurate and timely processing and supply of medicines.

• Order medicines and sundry items and manage invoicing.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with legislation, SOPs.
• Contribute to safe, efficient delivery of pharmacy services to patients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our developing pharmacy team within Prison Healthcare and the GP Out of Hours Service.

The successful candidate will be primarily based within the Health Centre at HMP Castle Huntly, with a requirement to work across HMP Perth, HMP Bella Community Custody Unit (CCU) and the GP Out of Hours Service in Perth and Dundee as service needs require.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the safe, effective and timely delivery of pharmaceutical services across a range of clinical settings. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the accurate and timely processing and supply of medicines.
• Supporting the ordering, receipt, storage and distribution of medicines and pharmaceutical stock.
• Participating in medicines stock control, including stock rotation and monitoring.
• Ordering and invoicing medicines and sundry items.
• Maintaining accurate records and complying with all relevant legislation, policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Contributing to the safe, efficient and effective delivery of pharmacy services to patients.
  • • Essential Criteria

Applicants must hold an SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, or an equivalent accredited qualification that meets the regulatory requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
