Job summary

NHS Highland invites applications for a Pharmacy Support Worker at New Craigs Hospital. You will join a friendly pharmacy team to ensure safe, effective, and efficient medicines supply and management throughout the hospital.

The post supports you to achieve SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services and mandatory induction standards for Health Care Support Workers in Scotland, with full training provided as needed. Flexible working options may be discussed at interview.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our well established pharmacy team within New Craigs Hospital. As part of a friendly and supportive team, you will contribute to the safe, effective and efficient supply and management of medicines throughout the hospital.

The successful candidate will also be supported to complete a SVQ/NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services and be required to achieve the mandatory induction standards for Health Care Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the code of conduct throughout your employment.

Duties Will Include

• Supporting the dispensing and supply of medicines under the supervision of pharmacy staff and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Maintaining ward and departmental stock levels, including stock replenishment and stock control activities.
• Processing medicine orders and returns.
• Responding to telephone and reception enquiries and providing administrative support as required.

Applicants should be able to work carefully, accurately and efficiently in a busy environment and demonstrate good organisational and communication skills.

Previous experience of working in a pharmacy setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
