Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join the Distribution, Purchasing and Vaccine team at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. You will be part of a busy automated Pharmacy Department supporting medicines stock management and supplying medicines and vaccines across NHS Highland.

Applicants must be working towards three National 4 qualifications (including English, Maths and Science) and complete the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support workers.

Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Distribution, Purchasing and Vaccine team. You will train and work as a Pharmacy Assistant as part of our Pharmacy team based at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our team of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Staff in our busy automated Pharmacy Department. Your primary role will be to support medicines stock management within wards and departments in Raigmore and provide medicines & vaccines supply service to other destinations across NHS Highland.

You will be required to work through a structured training programme to meet the General Pharmaceutical Council minimum training requirements for the role.

You will need to be enthusiastic with strong interpersonal and organisational abilities, good communication skills and a strong team work ethic. You must also demonstrate in your application that you possess good written communication skills, and are hard working with good attention to detail. You will need to be flexible in your approach and committed to completing the training programme.

Applicants must have achieved, or at the time of interview be working towards 3 National 4 qualifications (or SCQF equivalent) which must include English, Maths and a Science subject as a minimum.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support workers in Scotland and to comply with the code of conduct throughout your employment.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
