Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Pharmacy Stores Assistant to join the busy Stores and Dispensary team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital. You will help receive, store and distribute medicines, support ward deliveries and work across the top-up and cycle count processes, incorporating accuracy and patient safety into every task.

Qualifications

To provide an efficient, accurate and high-quality pharmaceutical service from the Dispensary and Pharmacy Stores through the receipt, storage and distribution of medicines
To provide timely and secure delivery of medicines to wards and departments within the Trust
To assemble orders of medicinal products for use across the Trust
To liaise with ward staff regarding stock issues which may lead to temporary alternatives being supplied
To replenish stock supplies for wards and departments throughout the Trust via the top-up process
To monitor disposal of certain waste types where applicable

Responsibilities

To provide an efficient, accurate and high-quality pharmaceutical service from the Dispensary and Pharmacy Stores through the receipt, storage and distribution of medicines
To provide timely and secure delivery of medicines, including IV fluids and controlled drugs, to wards and departments
To assemble orders of medicinal products for use across the Trust
To liaise with ward staff about stock issues and temporary alternatives
To assist in ordering and receipt of medical and industrial gases
To replenish stock supplies for wards and departments through the top-up process
To carry out replenishment of drugs in emergency drug boxes
To monitor stock within automated cabinets and ward boxes
