Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support the provision of pharmacy services. You will receive prescriptions, assist in dispensing for in-patient, outpatient and discharge cases, and help with the receipt and distribution of medicines within the department.

Applicants should have SVQ Pharmacy Services Level II (or equivalent) and be able to work under SOPs. CPD commitment and self-motivation are essential; the role includes weekend morning work.

Qualifications

• Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD)
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Willingness to work Sunday shifts and adapt to duties as required

Responsibilities

• Receive prescriptions and orders at pharmacy dispensary from nurses, patients or portering staff.
• Dispense in-patient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions including cytotoxics and controlled drugs following SOPs.
• Receive and distribute pharmaceutical products from wholesalers and other hospitals into the pharmacy department.
• Receive/check medical gases and ensure appropriate storage.
