Pharmacy Assistant

Ipswich Hospital | Pharmacy | Bank | Part time

Up to £13.00 per hour, dependent on experience

As a Pharmacy Assistant at Ipswich Hospital, you will have obtained a Level 2 qualification in Healthcare and proven post-qualification experience. Excellent communication and people skills are essential, as you will work closely with patients and clinical staff.

As our Pharmacy Assistant, you will:

  • Manage stock control of medicines and other items within the Pharmacy Department
  • Assist with procurement of pharmaceutical stock and medical gases using electronic systems
  • Receive and check bulk orders from wholesalers, addressing issues promptly
  • Handle invoice queries related to received medicines
  • Distribute medicines to wards and departments to ensure timely patient treatment
  • Assist in dispensing medicines to ensure safe and timely supply to patients

The person

To succeed as a Pharmacy Assistant, you will need:

  • A good standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy skills
  • 4 GCSEs including English, Maths, and a Science or equivalent
  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills or a GPhC recognized equivalent, or willingness to work towards this qualification within 3 months of employment
  • Experience in handling goods and stock management
  • IT Skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience is advantageous but not essential
