Job summary

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool is seeking a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant for the aseptic services team. The role supports the aseptic pharmacy suite expansion and requires GCSEs in English, Maths and Science, with NVQ2 training to progress within pharmacy services.

Working pattern is 37.5 hours per week over four days (Mon-Fri; one day off), with weekend and bank holiday rotation. Aseptic stock control, documentation, and quality assurance form core duties.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English, Maths and a Science or equivalent are required.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or NVQ Level 2 Diploma will be enrolled onto to progress.
  • Ability to work to set procedures and portfolios as part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and check all raw materials to be sent into designated clean rooms following SOPs and trust guidelines.
  • Maintain asepsis in the clean room environment through good working practices.
  • Participate in volume checking of colleagues within the sterile chemotherapy unit.
  • Support ordering, receiving, rota and maintain all stocks within the department.
  • Compile documentation for quality control and quality assurance to adhere to licensing requirements.

Pharmacy Assistant - Aseptic Services

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) provides excellent cancer care to patients in the Northwest (including North Wales and the Isle of Man). We have 3 site locations: the central Liverpool site and hub sites in the Wirral and Aintree. Inpatient services, including 2 wards, bone marrow transplant service and the regional Teenage and Young Adult unit (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust) are located at our Liverpool site.

It is an exciting time for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, as we expand our capacity in the aseptic pharmacy suite at CCCL. This has provided an exciting opportunity for a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant which is an important position within our large, diverse and friendly pharmacy team.

Working pattern will be 37.5 hours per week, 8am-6pm over 4 days per week (Monday - Friday with an allocated day off. Weekend and Bank Holiday work are required on a rotational basis)

Main duties of the job

In this role, we require a pass in GCSE English, Maths and a Science or equivalent. We will enrol you onto the NVQ 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent to progress you further in the role.

In summary, you will:

Education/ Qualifications
  • GCSE or equivalent passes in Maths, English and a science.
  • NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy practice or NVQ level 2 Diploma
Knowledge
  • Ability to undertake portfolio work and work to set procedures
Experience
  • Pharmacy experience or NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy practice
