Job summary

McKinsey & Company in London is seeking a seasoned energy consultant to join the Petroleum Asset eXcellence unit. You will work with client teams to boost energy asset value, apply advanced analytics and agentic AI, and drive performance improvements across upstream and decarbonization initiatives.

Based in London or Amsterdam, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, lead knowledge-building initiatives, and support client workshops as part of a high-impact energy practice.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years in energy with focus on hydrogen, carbon capture, process engineering, reservoir engineering, and/or energy efficiency topics.
• Experience applying advanced analytics or agentic AI to these domains is a strong plus.
• Strong background in project management and/or leading operational improvement projects.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support client teams by providing energy-specific expertise to increase asset value and improve operations.
• Be part of McKinsey's Petroleum Asset eXcellence unit within Oil & Gas, collaborating with asset teams.
• Leverage agentic AI and other digital tools to model and optimize asset performance.
• Participate in internal knowledge-building initiatives, conferences, and client workshops.
• Base offices in Amsterdam or London and work with energy companies across the energy transition.
