Job summary

Castle Accountancy in Leeds seeks a Personal Tax Senior or Manager to lead personal tax compliance and advisory work for a varied client portfolio. You will manage deadlines, review returns and provide proactive guidance, working closely with Partners to deliver high client service.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years’ experience in personal tax within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance, with some advisory exposure.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with clients.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns and HMRC compliance.
• Providing personal tax advice to clients on a range of matters.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships with regular meetings.
• Mentoring junior members of the tax team where appropriate.
• Liaising with Partners and colleagues to deliver high-quality service.
• Identifying opportunities to provide additional tax advice.

Personal Tax Senior / Manager

Leeds | £45,000 – £50,000 DOE | Permanent, Full-time | Hybrid Working

Castle Employment are working with an established, independent accountancy practice in North Leeds who are looking to recruit a Personal Tax Senior or Manager to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships with clients, has a strong background in personal tax compliance and advisory work, and is looking to develop their career within a supportive and close-knit practice.
The RoleWorking within an experienced tax team, you’ll be responsible for managing personal tax matters for a varied portfolio of clients, combining compliance responsibilities with advisory work.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
• Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Providing personal tax advice and guidance to clients on a range of tax matters.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, including regular face-to-face meetings.
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the tax team where appropriate.
• Liaising with Partners and colleagues across the wider practice to deliver a high standard of client service.
• Identifying opportunities to provide additional tax advice and support to clients.

About YouWe’re looking for someone with:

• At least 3–4 years’ experience working in personal tax within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance, with some exposure to advisory work.
• Previous supervisory or management experience would be advantageous, although not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and a varied workload.
• Experience using IRIS, Microsoft Office and Excel would be beneficial.
• A genuine interest in developing their career and building long‑term relationships within a practice.
