Qualifications

• 3–4 years' experience in personal tax within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance; exposure to advisory work.
• Supervisory/management experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with clients.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines and varied workload.
• Experience using IRIS, Microsoft Office and Excel would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns for accuracy and HMRC compliance.
• Providing personal tax advice and guidance to clients on tax matters.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships with regular meetings.

Are you an experienced Personal Tax professional looking for your next step within accountancy practice, with the opportunity to progress towards Partner level?

Castle Employment are working with an established, independent accountancy practice in North Leeds who are looking to recruit a Personal Tax Senior or Manager to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships with clients, has a strong background in personal tax compliance and advisory work, and is looking to develop their career within a supportive and close-knit practice.

The Role

Working within an experienced tax team, you'll be responsible for managing personal tax matters for a varied portfolio of clients, combining compliance responsibilities with advisory work.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
• Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Providing personal tax advice and guidance to clients on a range of tax matters.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, including regular face-to-face meetings.
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the tax team where appropriate.
• Liaising with Partners and colleagues across the wider practice to deliver a high standard of client service.
• Identifying opportunities to provide additional tax advice and support to clients.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• At least 3–4 years' experience working in personal tax within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance, with some exposure to advisory work.
• Previous supervisory or management experience would be advantageous, although not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and a varied workload.
• Experience using IRIS, Microsoft Office and Excel would be beneficial.
• A genuine interest in developing their career and building long-term relationships within a practice.
