Female Support Worker – 24 hours per week
Wakefield
Hours

Week 1: 3 x 12 hours Shift Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join a supportive family environment, assisting an 18-year-old young woman who lives at home with her mum, dad, and two friendly dogs.

Our client is a happy and engaging young woman who loves listening to current music, enjoying stories, watching Disney films, and using her iPad. Music is a big part of her world, and she thrives when surrounded by positive, enthusiastic people. She has a close-knit family and enjoys strong friendships at school.

We are looking for someone who can be creative when taking part in activities with our client and has an interest in music and Disney films.

She has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, both well managed with medication. She uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with transfers using a hoist and slings. She does not communicate verbally, so patience, attentiveness, and the ability to read non-verbal cues are essential.

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred care in a safe, respectful, and engaging way. Duties include:

  • Administering medication
  • PEG feeding in line with a structured feeding regime
  • Moving and handling (including use of hoists and slings)
  • Supporting daily routines and enjoyable activities
  • Accompanying the family when travelling, as required

This role would suit someone with previous care experience who is:

  • Calm, patient, and reliable
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and confident using technology
  • Comfortable working independently and using initiative
  • Well organised and able to follow established routines

You must hold a full UK driving licence, and it must be possible to obtain insurance for you to drive the client’s vehicle.

This role is restricted to female applicants only in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 as the role involves providing personal care to female service users in circumstances where privacy and decency are essential. This requirement is an Occupational Requirement and is crucial to the effective delivery of the service.

Due to the nature of the role, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
