Job summary

ERS Syndicate 218 at Lloyds seeks an experienced claims professional to negotiate settlements on third‑party claims efficiently and cost‑effectively, following policy wording and handling manuals. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality claims service while ensuring compliance with regulations and Lloyd’s standards.

You will validate details, determine liability and quantum, and support management information and junior staff development within a structured claims environment.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of ERS product range including understanding of the coverage provisions, exclusions and conditions of our product wordings.
• Working knowledge of the legal, regulatory and compliance provisions that apply in the Personal Injury Sector.
• Detailed knowledge of our internal structure, operational practices and processes.
• Detailed understanding of the technology and processes used to manage our claims service proposition.
• Good understanding of damages (Special and General Damages) relevant to claim pursued.
• Knowledge of pre and post litigation procedures (appropriate to level of claims handling ability).

Responsibilities

• Validating claims and checking all details agreed with Underwriters' records.
• Establishing clearly the circumstances of any loss and making appropriate liability indemnity and quantum (value) enquiries.
• Complying with pre and post litigation procedures, along with reserving philosophy efficiently through the life of a claim with a view to concluding the case efficiently and economically.
• Attend conferences/discussion facilities relevant to specific claims as well as Court attendances as required.
• Comply with all audit requirements.
• Assist in production of MI and its analysis.
• Mentor and train junior staff relevant to skill‑set and technical ability.
• Volunteer and participate in meetings and initiatives where appropriate.
• Be aware of and act upon all compliance matters e.g. Consumer Duty requirements, Data Protection, Money Laundering etc.
• Support compliance with Lloyd’s, FSA & FOS regulation.
