Job summary

Protocol is seeking a Personal Development Tutor for Crewe Campus to deliver pastoral, tutorial and personal development support to learners aged 16-19. The role offers £20.00 per hour and a 37-hour week on a temporary ongoing basis with an immediate start.

You will run engaging group tutorials, provide one-to-one guidance, monitor attendance and progress, and work with curriculum teams to promote safeguarding, employability skills and learner wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Must have Level 3 qualification and GCSE English/Maths at minimum grade C/4/5.
  • Experience delivering sessions to groups of young people.
  • Experience providing pastoral, welfare or safeguarding support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging group tutorial sessions covering employability, British Values, safeguarding, equality and diversity, and personal development.
  • Provide one-to-one support for learners requiring pastoral intervention.
  • Monitor learner attendance, engagement and progress and take appropriate action.
  • Support students with target setting, progression planning and career aspirations.
  • Collaborate with curriculum staff and support services to ensure learners receive needed help.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, resilience and safeguarding culture.

Personal Development Tutor

Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated Personal Development Tutor to join a busy college campus in Crewe, providing pastoral, tutorial and personal development support to learners aged 16-19. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience mentoring, supporting or teaching young people who wants to make a real difference to student achievement and wellbeing. Based on the attached job description, the role focuses on delivering engaging tutorials, supporting learner progression and attendance, and promoting safeguarding, equality and employability skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging group tutorial sessions covering topics such as employability, British Values, safeguarding, equality and diversity, and personal development.
  • Provide one-to-one support for learners who require additional pastoral intervention.
  • Monitor learner attendance, engagement and progress, taking appropriate action where concerns arise.
  • Support students with target setting, progression planning and career aspirations.
  • Work closely with curriculum staff and support services to ensure learners receive the help they need.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, resilience and a culture of safeguarding.
Essential Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4/5 or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering sessions to groups of young people.
  • Experience supporting young people with pastoral, welfare or safeguarding-related matters.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with young people.
Desirable
  • Teaching, tutoring, mentoring or coaching experience.
  • Experience working within Further Education, education, youth work or a similar setting.
  • Teaching qualification (or working towards one).
Candidate Information Required
  • Full employment history.
  • Details of any pastoral, welfare or learner support experience.
  • English and Maths qualifications/grades.
  • Experience working with young people aged 16-19.
  • Any safeguarding, mentoring, tutoring or teaching experience.
