Job summary

Self Direct Support Options Fife is seeking a caring personal assistant in Scotland to support a happy, non-verbal 9-year-old boy with epilepsy. The role is 12 hours per week, two weekday evenings and Saturday, with flexibility during school holidays.

You will help him enjoy activities, assist with personal care, daily medication, and potential seizure care. PVG enhanced disclosure is required; reliability, patience, and observant, fitness-conscious approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with children with complex needs is beneficial.
• PVG/DBS enhanced disclosure required.
• Able to assist with personal care and medication management.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and accompany the child on activities.
• Assist with daily medication and monitor seizures.
• Ensure safety and supervise during outings and activities.

Role

We are looking for a personal assistant for our client who is a happy and lively 9-year-old boy.

You will be supporting our client to enjoy his time outside of school during the week and weekends. Our client enjoys swimming, music, going on the trampoline as well as days out.

The perfect PA for our client would be able the think of other activities and new experiences for our client.

Our client is non-verbal but has begun communicating with PECS. Our client also has epilepsy so having experience in this area would also be of benefit. Our client has little sense of danger and can be very quick so someone who is observant and has a good level of fitness would be ideal for this role. Having experience with children with complex needs would be of benefit. Duties within this role include personal care, assisting with daily medication and possibly seizure care.

Applicants must have a caring attitude, have a good sense of humour, be patient and understanding, be reliable with a positive and flexible approach to work.

This role requires an enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
