Job summary

Self Direct Support Options Fife is seeking a caring Personal Assistant to support an 11-year-old boy with cerebral palsy during alternate Saturdays, 10am–2pm, focusing on fun activities and safe outings in a home and community setting. You will help with activities such as swimming, beach visits, and football, plus some personal care, while remaining calm and observant in busy environments.

PVG membership is required by April 2025, and SDS Options Fife will assist with the application process.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability required.
• Experience with children is helpful but not essential.
• PVG membership will be required by April 2025 and support is provided to apply.

Schedule: Alternate Saturdays, approx. 10am–2pm

We’re looking for a caring, alert Personal Assistant to support an 11-year-old boy with cerebral palsy to enjoy fun activities and stay safe during weekend outings.

In This Role, You’ll:

• Go swimming, visit the beach or play football
• Help with safe outings and suggest fun new activities
• Support with some personal care
• Be a calm, consistent adult who helps him feel secure

The client communicates mainly through speech but may use symbols. You’ll need to be observant and responsive, especially in busy environments.

Ideal Candidate:

• Has a kind, attentive, and practical nature
• Enjoys working with children
• Can adapt and stay calm in unexpected moments
• Experience is helpful but not essential

PVG Membership Requirement:

Please note that under the new legal requirements effective from April 2025, all Personal Assistants must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
