Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a caring Personal Assistant to support a young person in Berkshire during term time and school holidays on a specialised EOTAS package. The role focuses on confidence, independence and enjoying activities in a relaxed, low-demand way.

You will help activities like swimming, parks and outings, build trust, and foster life skills. DBS check required; driving licence preferred; candidates with experience of autism/neurodiversity welcomed.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people requiring additional support.
  • Experience supporting autistic and/or neurodivergent individuals is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply.

Job description

Milk Alternative, part of Milk Education, supports young people who need a different route to learning. We're looking for a caring and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support a young person in the Berkshire area during term time and school holidays on a specialised EOTAS package.

This role is focused on confidence, independence, community access and enjoyment, supporting the young person to explore their interests and try new activities in a relaxed, low-demand way.

Term time: 4 hours per week

School Holidays: 10 hours per week

The role
  • Support the young person with activities they enjoy
  • Encourage confidence, independence and life skills
  • Support community-based activities and outings
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship
  • Encourage new experiences at the young person's own pace
  • Support hobbies, interests and everyday activities

Activities could include swimming, gaming, parks, outdoor activities, visiting places of interest, attending events and trying new experiences.

We're looking for someone who:
  • Is active, patient, calm and reliable
  • Enjoys being outdoors and trying new things
  • Has experience supporting children or young people
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships
  • Is caring, flexible and creative
  • Understands or is willing to learn about autism and neurodiversity
  • Is passionate about supporting independence
Requirements
  • Experience working with children, young people or individuals requiring additional support
  • Experience supporting autistic and/or neurodivergent young people is desirable
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Ability to work in the Berkshire area
