Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a creative 1:1 Tutor to support a bright learner in the Berkshire area. The role focuses on personalised sessions, aligning with the pupil's interests and real-world experiences to foster engagement and growth.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and bring calm, flexible teaching approaches, including autism/neurodiversity-aware practices, to help the learner make meaningful progress in 44 weeks per year.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a teacher, tutor or educator.
  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Understanding of autism, PDA and/or neurodiversity-affirming practice.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
  • Able to work in the Berkshire / RBWM area.
  • Creative, flexible and child-centred approach.

Responsibilities

Job description

Milk Alternative, part of Milk Education, supports young people who need a different route to learning. We're looking for a creative and adaptable 1:1 Tutor to join a specialist EOTAS team and support a bright, creative young person in the Berkshire area.

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver personalised learning that is built around the young person's interests, curiosity and real-world experiences, helping them learn, grow and thrive in a way that works for them.

The role is 2 hours per week, for 44 weeks of the year.

About the role

You'll plan and deliver personalised 1:1 learning sessions that connect with the young person's interests, strengths and individual learning style.

Learning could include anything from science, technology and coding to building, nature, cooking, visits, projects or everyday experiences.

You'll work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure learning is meaningful, motivating and supportive of the young person's development.

You will be someone who:

  • Is an experienced teacher or tutor who can adapt and think creatively
  • Is calm, patient and flexible
  • Can build positive relationships and develop trust
  • Understands autism, PDA and/or neurodiversity-affirming approaches
  • Can make learning engaging, relevant and enjoyable
  • Understands the importance of relationship before expectation
  • Is confident adapting lessons around a young person's interests
  • Enjoys seeing small steps lead to big gains
  • Can work collaboratively as part of a wider team
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a teacher, tutor or educator
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Understanding of autism, PDA and/or neurodiversity-affirming practice
  • Enhanced DBS, or willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Ability to work in the Berkshire / RBWM area
  • A creative, flexible and child-centred approach
